Founder, Urgo Academy ; Head Basketball Coach, Gonzaga College High School
Our Mission
Urgo Academy exists to build complete athletes and complete people. Rooted in the same Jesuit values that shaped Coach Urgo's own journey — from Gonzaga College High School to two decades on college sidelines and back home again — the Academy is built on the belief that the habits, discipline, and brotherhood forged through sport last far beyond the final buzzer. Every session, camp, and training block is designed around one simple truth: attitude is the key that unlocks effort, and effort is what determines the outcome.
Keith Urgo is a 1997 graduate of Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., where he now serves as Head Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director after nearly two decades in NCAA Division I basketball. A proud son of Washington, D.C. and one of ten children, Urgo has spent his career building programs, developing players, and forming young men through the game he grew up playing on Eye Street.
Urgo began his coaching career in 2004 as an assistant and Freshman Head Coach at his alma mater, Gonzaga, while also working in education at the Washington Jesuit Academy. That foundation launched a college coaching career that spanned Villanova, Penn State, and Fordham University, where he ultimately became a Division I head coach and Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. In 2025, Urgo returned home to lead the Gonzaga program that first shaped him — a full-circle moment he has described as one of the most meaningful of his life.
Throughout his career, Urgo's coaching philosophy has remained rooted in Jesuit tradition: developing the whole person, not just the player. That same philosophy now anchors Urgo Academy, where the goal is to extend the brotherhood, network, and opportunity built through basketball to student-athletes long after their playing days are over.

beyond the game
After graduating from Fairfield, Urgo co-founded PeacePlayers International, a non-profit that uses basketball to unite and educate youth in divided communities around the world — early evidence of the belief that now drives Urgo Academy: that sport is a vehicle for brotherhood, character, and lasting opportunity.
As Assistant Athletic Director at Gonzaga, Urgo has also launched a NIL and College Financial Literacy Education program for student-athletes and their families, and serves as a liaison between athletics and campus ministry — extending his mission of developing student-athletes on and off the court.
